California's landmark privacy law giving residents the right to know what personal information businesses collect about them, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale. It applies to for-profit businesses over certain revenue or data-volume thresholds that handle Californians' data. It kicked off the wave of US state privacy laws that followed.
