DRBG

DRBG is NIST's term for an approved cryptographic random bit generator, specified in SP 800-90A with constructions based on hashes, HMAC, and AES counters. FIPS-validated products must use these designs for key generation. The family is also infamous for Dual_EC_DRBG, a since-removed algorithm widely believed to contain an NSA backdoor.
