Digital Signature Standard
DSS is the NIST federal standard (FIPS 186) that specifies which digital signature algorithms US government systems may use. The current revision approves RSA, ECDSA, and EdDSA. It matters because it drives which signature algorithms are considered acceptable across government and much of industry.
