Identity Provider
An IdP is the system that authenticates users and vouches for their identity to other applications. In a federation flow, the application redirects the user to the IdP, which verifies credentials and returns a signed assertion or token. Centralizing login at an IdP is what makes single sign-on and consistent MFA possible.
