LPE

Local Privilege Escalation is when an attacker who already has limited access to a machine exploits a flaw to gain higher privileges, such as administrator or root. It is usually a second step after initial access, turning a minor foothold into full control. Patching, least privilege, and endpoint monitoring are the main defenses against LPE chains.
