OSINT is intelligence gathered from publicly available sources such as websites, social media, public records, and code repositories. Threat intel analysts use it to research adversaries, while defenders use it to see what information about their own organization is exposed. It matters because attackers use the same public data to plan phishing and social engineering campaigns.
