Security Development Lifecycle
The SDL is Microsoft's pioneering process for building security into software development, introduced company-wide in the early 2000s after major worm outbreaks. It defines required practices such as threat modeling, static analysis, and final security review before release. Many other companies' secure development programs are modeled directly on the SDL.
