Wi-Fi Protected Setup
WPS was designed to make joining a Wi-Fi network easy through a push button or an 8-digit PIN instead of typing the passphrase. The PIN method has a design flaw: the router validates the PIN in two halves, shrinking the search space so much that tools like Reaver can brute-force it in hours and recover the network password. Disabling WPS, or at least its PIN mode, is standard advice for home and small business routers.
