IEEE 802.1X Port-Based Network Access Control
802.1X controls access at the network port level, blocking all traffic until a device authenticates. It ties together a supplicant on the device, an authenticator such as a switch or access point, and a RADIUS server carrying EAP messages. It is the foundation of enterprise Wi-Fi security and wired network access control.
