NAC checks devices before they are allowed onto a network, verifying things like identity, patch level, and antivirus status. Devices that fail the check can be blocked or shunted into a quarantine network until they are fixed. It keeps rogue or unhealthy endpoints from plugging in and spreading problems across the LAN.
