CIA

In security, CIA refers to the triad of confidentiality, integrity, and availability, not the intelligence agency. Confidentiality means keeping data secret from unauthorized parties, integrity means keeping data accurate and untampered, and availability means keeping systems and data accessible when needed. Nearly every security control, from encryption to backups, exists to protect one or more legs of this triad.
