HSM

Hardware Security Module

cryptomedium

An HSM is a tamper-resistant hardware device that generates, stores, and uses cryptographic keys without ever exposing them to the host system. Certificate authorities, payment networks, and cloud key management services all rely on HSMs to protect their most sensitive keys. Devices are typically validated against the FIPS 140-3 standard.
