UDP is a lightweight transport protocol that sends packets without connections or delivery guarantees, making it fast for things like video, gaming, and DNS. Because it is connectionless, source addresses are easy to forge. That property fuels reflection and amplification attacks, where small spoofed requests trigger huge floods of traffic at victims.
