An outsourced or fractional security executive who provides CISO-level leadership on a part-time or contract basis. Small and midsize organizations use vCISOs to get strategy, risk management, and compliance guidance without the cost of a full-time hire. The vCISO typically builds the security program, briefs leadership, and oversees vendors and audits.
