Computer Emergency Response Team
A CERT is a team, often national or sector-wide, that responds to computer security incidents and publishes warnings and guidance. The original CERT was founded at Carnegie Mellon after the 1988 Morris worm, and many countries now run their own national CERTs. They matter because coordinated response and public advisories help entire communities react to widespread threats.
