GPT

GPT is the family of large language models from OpenAI whose name describes the recipe: generative (it produces text), pre-trained (it learns from a huge corpus before any task-specific tuning), and transformer (the neural network architecture underneath). GPT models popularized modern AI chat, and the term is often used loosely for any chatbot. The distinction matters when policies and contracts name specific models and versions.
