LAN

Local Area Network

networkeasy

A LAN is the network within one physical place (an office, a home, a data center floor) connecting nearby devices at high speed. It is the original trust boundary: being on the LAN once meant being trusted, which is exactly the assumption attackers exploit through lateral movement and which zero trust architecture exists to retire. Segmenting the LAN remains one of the highest-value defensive moves.
