WAN

Wide Area Network

networkeasy

A WAN connects networks across distance: branch offices to headquarters, sites to data centers, everything to the internet. Corporate WANs used to mean private leased lines and MPLS; today they are increasingly software-defined and run over the public internet with encryption. The WAN is where traffic leaves the building, so it is where encryption, monitoring, and provider trust decisions bite.
