TPU

A TPU is Google's custom chip built specifically for the matrix math that neural networks run on, offered mainly through Google Cloud. TPUs and their GPU cousins are why modern AI exists at commercial scale: training frontier models takes warehouse-sized fleets of them. In budget conversations, accelerator is the word for this hardware class, and it is where AI projects' money actually goes.
